Health Initiatives

Maternal and Child Health

Washindi Africa focuses on improving access to essential reproductive health services, prenatal and postnatal care, nutrition, and health education. We provide mentorship, facility linkages and support for mothers, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health and the well-being of their children. By fostering community awareness and promoting healthy practices, we aim to reduce maternal and child mortality rates, ensuring that every mother and child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment

Mentor Mama Program

We work with women and youth in promoting access to sexual and reproductive health and choices, access to information and prevention of gender- based violence. Aims to address the prevalent issues of teen parenthood, family planning and education. Mentor Mama reinforce the importance of obtaining a post primary and secondary education to teen mothers in their primary or secondary school. It is also geared at economically empowering the teen mothers economically by linking them to employability skills and trainings.

Washindi School Health Clubs

The health clubs offer a platform for students and learners to share and discuss health information. The health clubs enroll students and learners (10- 25 years) in primary, secondary, colleges and university levels. Discussion areas: Drugs and Substance Abuse, Sexual and reproductive health rights, Water and sanitation, Nutrition, Infectious diseases. Impact: 12 school club formed; 600 students enrolled. COVID-19 Prevention

Partnered with Water Step International to promote access to clean water and sanitation in the community through provision of skills, tools and technology on water purification and bleach making. We worked with small groups in Mombasa (Kongowea, Changamwe) and Kilifi (Chonyi and Chodari). Impact: 100 Group members trained; 15 water purification kits distributed.

Medical Camps, Consultations and Screening Services

Aims at promoting access to health care’s services to vulnerable members of the community including women, children and persons with disability through hosting of medical camps, offering consultations and health screening services to population in need.
